The tires on that old boat trailer popped out of the dirt with a loud suction sound that always makes me grin. A homeowner in Albany called us because her 1980 open-bow runabout had sat at the end of a long dirt driveway for a dozen years, and she wanted the side yard back for a spring garden. She had the paperwork in an old shoebox in her garage, so we went through the title together before the release of liability was signed with the deposit.

The 18-foot vessel was not ready to roll on its own axle. The trailer tires were dry-rotted down to the rusty rims, an old battery was leaking acid into the splash well, and three gallons of fuel in the bilge smelled like old varnish. Lawn sprinklers had kept the grass soft between the boat and the street. We hauled out our ramps and winch, checked for fuel and oil leaks first, and pulled the whole rig right up onto our trailer instead of chancing her buried wheels.

Our crew strapped it down tight for the trip down the highway. The engine block and aluminum trim were salvaged, while the remaining fiberglass hull went to a licensed disposal facility. The yard is bare grass now, ready for her tomatoes. If you have an unwanted vessel taking up space in Dougherty County, call 229-252-2644.

What a trailer says about the boat on it

Typically, we find that boat removal gets easier once the winter frost stiffens the mud, but a wet southern summer has usually soaked into the floor foam already, doubling the weight of a neglected vessel. Aluminum rails, cleats, and copper wiring are cleaned for recycling, while heavy fiberglass hulls go directly to a land disposal site.

Albany owners ask about boat removal

Can you get a boat out of my backyard?

Yes, we pull unwanted vessels out of backyards, side yards, and narrow gate openings regularly. Our licensed and insured crew brings winches and heavy equipment to roll non-running boats onto our trailer without tearing up your lawn. Send us a photo for a free estimate.

Do you take the trailer too?

We take boat trailers along with the vessel whenever property owners want them gone. Whether the trailer is rusted out, missing tires, or stuck in the mud, our crew loads the whole rig onto our trailer for proper removal and disposal.

Our boat removal service areas in Dougherty County

We pick up boats across Dougherty County, in Putney. February gives us cooler weather that helps settle damp soil, but damp winter air still rots soft wooden floors inside open runabouts. Moving derelict boats before spring rains turn driveways into mud pits keeps your driveway accessible and keeps junk boat pricing predictable.
